Google Search Console

Connect Search Console over OAuth so Climb AI can read your clicks, impressions and rankings — read-only, disconnect any time.

Updated 2026-09-13

Connecting Google Search Console lets Climb AI read your real search performance — clicks, impressions, average position, and which queries and pages drive them — and use it to power the Dashboard, Rankings, and Keywords views. It is optional but recommended: without it, Climb AI has no visibility into how your published articles actually perform in Google.

  1. 1
    Start the connection
From site setup or site settings, click Connect next to Google Search Console. Climb AI redirects you to Google's OAuth consent screen.
  2. 2
    Grant access
Sign in with the Google account that has access to the property in Search Console, and approve the requested read-only permissions.
  3. 3
    Pick your property
Google returns you to Climb AI, which lists your verified Search Console properties. Select the one matching this website.
  4. 4
    Confirm
Climb AI stores the connection and the selected property URL; the site status moves to Connected and data starts appearing within the app.

Connection status

StatusMeaning
pending_selectionOAuth succeeded, but you haven't picked which verified property to use yet
connectedA property is selected and Climb AI can read data for it
reauth_requiredGoogle revoked the refresh token (access removed, password change, etc.) — reconnect to restore data
A reauth_required connection doesn't recover on its own. Climb AI detects the revoked token the next time it tries to read data, clears the stored tokens, and flags the site — you'll need to click Connect again and go through OAuth once more.

What is read

DataUsed for
Clicks, impressions, CTR, average position (site-wide and per date range)Dashboard summary and trend comparisons
Per-query performance and positionKeyword tracking and the top-10-keywords count
Per-page performanceContent performance and per-article analytics
Query + page combinationsMatching which keywords rank which of your pages
The connection is read-only — Climb AI only calls the Search Console searchanalytics.query API to pull metrics. It never submits URLs, edits your property, or changes anything in Search Console.

Disconnecting

Disconnect from site settings at any time. This removes the stored tokens from Climb AI; it does not revoke Climb AI's access on Google's side automatically, so if you want to fully revoke it, also remove it from your Google Account's third-party access page.

Frequently asked questions

No — your Google account needs access to the property in Search Console (owner or user); Climb AI reads through your existing permission, it doesn't need its own.
